Womanhood (Headshot)

Womanhood 1

Womanhood 2

Womanhood is one of the biblically influemced shoots, heavily inspired by ‘The three graces’ by Raphael. The idea was to visually show correlations between modern women and Eve based on the burdens women carry when it comes to being demonised by society. This shoot is not to say women are evil but rather visually explores the similarities between modern women and the original woman. Women are supposed to be pure and gentle beings so when they do wrong, the societal judgement can be damning. (Choosing pleasures and desires isn’t foreign to men or women, but there is a stigma which will follow a woman which doesn’t necessarily apply to a man.) Much like Eve, modern Christian and non-Christian women sort after their own desires outside of Gods ‘will’, so it begs the question, how different are modern women from Eve? Is it fair to conclude that post biblical generations of women share the same fate as Eve due to their emotional nature? And if that is the case, are women to be seen as inherently evil emotional beings? This shoot is not necessarily supposed to conclude on these questions, it is to challenge viewers, particularly women, to evaluate how the expirence of womanhood aligns with the story of Eve.
